Time vs. Money

The VALUE of your Time, Vs. Money.
Paying yourself first in important IF you want to save money.
Paying yourself first with TIME is also important.
Here is an analogy for planning your time.
Big rocks in first.
So spent the first hour of your day taking care of your vessel. Physical exercise, spiritual mindfulness, nutrition, physical hygiene, etc.
You will need a strong and healthy vessel to spend the 2nd hour on your latest project.
Spending time in advance on meal preparation is also important.
Then use the remaining time of your day for fb,Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram.

Break Time into whatever pieces you want and spend it on whatever you want.  But remember time is not money.  Time is far more important than money.  You will never be able to borrow back the time you carelessly spend. Once it is spent it is gone!  And mortgaging your present TIME in hopes of time later(I’ll do it when I retire…) Is like a failed investment.

So Take that 2 week trip now, then allow some of the less important things to remain undone until you return.  Pay yourself first with your time and let the little things fit in where they can!

More Than Pain Relief

Chiropractic is so much more than simply a means of relieving pain. Ultimately, the goal of receiving adjustments should be to restore the body to its natural state of optimal health.

Does exercise keep your brain healthy? Yes it does!

How do you stimulate your lymphatics to purge?  What about old fashioned 'get movin' to purge your lymphatics?

The timeline of success or failure for New Year’s goals is fast approaching.

The timeline of success or failure for New Year’s goals is fast approaching.

In general it takes 40 days to convert a new activity into a habit.
I have listed a few tips that I hope encourage you to stay mounted on your 2015 goals.

Instead of working from the minute you wake up until you go to bed, what if you only worked six hours a day? Or four hours? This is hypothetical for most, however you’d probably use that limited time more effectively, and with more focus as well as more enthusiasm.

Try to eat for health and not to fullness.
You might try to eat at specific times of the day rather than grazing all day.
When you grocery shop experiment and buy only foods that you find on the perimeter of the store.
Incorporate spices in every dish you create.

Rather than spending mindlessly why not spend with total awareness.  If you go to the store with 50 dollars cash then you will shop with awareness.  Credit cards contribute to mindless spending.  This is truly tough to do.  It occurred to me the discipline it takes when I had left my wallet at home therefore I had to know what I was spending as I only had cash and a limited amount of cash on me.  I had to put several items back as I surpassed the amount of cash on me.

If you want to succeed in a new activity rather it be reading the bible, working out, or engaging in a new hobby then I suggest scheduling time for it first thing in your day.

NSAIDs May Protect Against Common Skin Cancer / Defame diet

NSAIDs May Protect Against Common Skin Cancer

Aspirin and non steroidal anti-inflammmatory drugs (NSAIDs) May Protect Against Common Skin Cancer

Researchers show that use of nonaspirin NSAIDs significantly reduces the risk of developing (SCC) Squamous Cell Carcinoma by 15%. The Topical NSAID diclofenac is approved to treat actinic keratoses  "raise the possibility that oral aspirin or non-aspirin NSAIDs could be used as chemopreventive agents for cutaneous SCC also."

Food for thought:  Many of you who have visited my website drshawnie.com or who have been patients know that I promote the deflame diet.  It is all about a lifestyle of eating to reduce inflammation.  Hence Eat right to prevent disease and cancer.

I share this information to stir your curiosity to search for ways to improve your health and it is not meant to be treatment advise .  Seek a professional for treatment of any skin abnormalities.

Live strong,

America's Test Kitchen Radiogram - April 19, 2014 - drshawnie@gmail.com - Gmail: " Junk Food Engineering: Why Food Companies Weaponize Sugar, Salt, and Fat"

Did you know that Cargill has more than 40 different types of salt, each one designed for a specific application, most of them used in the production of processed foods? In the big money world of junk food engineering, nothing is left to chance. Finding the perfect balance of sugar, salt, and fat results in consumers finding the “bliss point,” the perfect junk food that makes you want to come back for more. To achieve this culinary home run, big food companies use everything from food chemistry to brain scans to turn a new product into a $100 million business. There is nothing random about Cheetos.

Gluten free spaghetti - Go rice!

Wanna be gluten free? A pasta made from brown rice flour is a perfect alternative to wheat. Thanks to a relatively high combined total of fiber and protein and a low, slow drying process, rice spaghetti is  delicate, thin stranded, springy and clean-tasting.

Active Release Technique A.R.T.

What is Active Release Techniques (ART) to Individuals, Athletes, and Patients?
ART is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.

How do overuse conditions occur?
Over-used muscles (and other soft tissues) change in three important ways:
  • acute conditions (pulls, tears, collisions, etc),
  • accumulation of small tears (micro-trauma)
  • not getting enough oxygen (hypoxia).

Each of these factors can cause your body to produce tough, dense scar tissue in the affected area. This scar tissue binds up and ties down tissues that need to move freely. As scar tissue builds up, muscles become shorter and weaker, tension on tendons causes tendonitis, and nerves can become trapped. This can cause reduced range of motion, loss of strength, and pain. If a nerve is trapped you may also feel tingling, numbness, and weakness.

What is an ART treatment like?
Every ART session is actually a combination of examination and treatment. The ART provider uses his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements.

These treatment protocols - over 500 specific moves - are unique to ART. They allow providers to identify and correct the specific problems that are affecting each individual patient. ART is not a cookie-cutter approach.

What is the history of Active Release Techniques?
ART has been developed, refined, and patented by P. Michael Leahy, DC, CCSP. Dr. Leahy noticed that his patients' symptoms seemed to be related to changes in their soft tissue that could be felt by hand. By observing how muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves responded to different types of work, Dr. Leahy was able to consistently resolve over 90% of his patients' problems. He now teaches and certifies health care providers all over the world to use ART.
